Send an email to pitchjammag@gmail.com with the subject line “Pitch – Your Name + Section”.
Include:
— A short introduction about yourself and the music you’re into (optional)
— Links to any previous work, portfolio or social media (if applicable)
— Your pitch in a few paragraphs
FEATURES (interviews + longform)
Pitch a fully developed idea. Tell us who you want to cover and why it matters now.
For interviews, include who you’re speaking to and how you have access (or how you plan to get it).
For longform, outline the full story angle and why it needs more than a short piece.
LIVE (concerts, festivals, tour diaries)
Pitch specific shows, festivals, or tours you are actively attending or covering.
Tell us what you’re going to, why it’s worth covering, and your angle (not just a recap — what makes your perspective different?)
For tour diaries, explain the concept, timeframe, and who/what you’re following.
SCENES (city reports + emerging artists)
Pitch a story rooted in your local scene.
Tell us what city or community you’re covering, what’s happening there right now, and why it matters.
If focusing on artists, include why they stand out and how you’re connected to or discovering them.
VISUAL (photo essays + illustration)
Start with a portfolio or selection of your work.
Then pitch a visual story, not single images. Think gigs, scenes, backstage access, or a visual concept tied to music culture.
Explain the idea, setting, and what you’re trying to capture.
BACKSTAGE (industry + unseen roles)
Pitch an access-based story about people behind live music.
Tell us who you can speak to (producers, engineers, promoters, venue teams, etc.) and what you want to uncover about how live music actually works.
OPINION (essays + commentary)
Pitch a clear idea or argument, not just a topic.
Tell us what you want to say about music culture, scenes, trends, or live music experiences — and why your perspective matters now.
We’re especially interested in people actively going to shows and documenting music culture as it happens.
